Cricketers v Footballers
2009

This event goes from strength to strength and the Algarve provides a perfect platform for us to enjoy the excellent facilities, golf and sunshine that the region offers.

Another 3 days of competitive golf at the Ocean Course, Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo saw the footballers take a 2 – 1 lead. Top sportsman was Phil Defreitas with an impressive 76 points over 2 days, whilst Dwight Yorke finished second on 69, and Teddy Sheringham 1 point further behind in 3rd on 68. Paul Walsh once again finished in the relegation spots and if it was not for his dancing skills would surely be for the chop.

One of many highlights of the week was Dwight Yorke Holing out at San Lorenzo for his first ever Ace!! – Top man spent the 1000 Euros he and Mr Lara had won from Messrs Shearer and Sheringham in an England Vs Trinidad & Tobago head to head earlier that day….

New boys Vaughan and Hick offered good support for Daffy but he was let down by chairman of selectors John Morris and Gladstone Small. Captain Lara has called for sweeping changes and an involvement in the selection process if the cricketers are to stop the rot.

You can always judge the success of an event by the number of returning clients and it looks like we will need to create some new events at home and abroad to satisfy the appetite of our guests to repeat lifestyle experiences that most can only dream of. Sports legends is a much used phrase but our boys really live up to the billing and are already looking forward to next years trip.

A big thank you to our event partners, Countrywide and Nike Golf.
